 Milan ?Mike? Chapman, 73, of Cottage Grove passed away May 25, 2015.

 He was born Nov. 18, 1941 in Cottage Grove to Clare and Marion (Hansen) Chapman.

 Mike received degrees in both forestry and computer science. He served in the U.S. Navy.

 On Aug. 25, 1962 in Hayward, Calif., he and Carole A. Slack were married.

 Mike worked for Weyerhaeuser Lumber Co. for 27 years and for Office Depot for 10 years.

 He enjoyed the genealogy society, travel and woodworking. He loved being a grandpa and spending time with his granddaughters.

 He was a member of the London Grange, the Cottage Grove Genealogy Society, Master at Hebron Grange #845, and the USS Mullany DD-528 Shipmates.

 Survivors include his wife, Carole Chapman of Cottage Grove, two sons, John Chapman of Poulsbo, Wash. and James Chapman of Cottage Grove, a daughter, Joan Goossens (Julian) of Cottage Grove, two brothers, Dennis Chapman of Cottage Grove and Les Chapman of Reedsport, a sister, Alice Matthews of LaCenter, Wash. and two grandchildren.

 A memorial service was held June 2 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Cottage Grove. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner?s Children?s Hospital, Sacramento, Calif. Arrangements handled by Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel, Cottage Grove.
