Marvin Wesley Lindsey of Brookings, and formerly of Cottage Grove, died on March 19, 2000, of a viral infection. He was 59.
He was born on August 9, 1940, in Campbell, Montana, to William H. and Lena (Lemmons) Lindsey.
Mr. Lindsey moved to Brookings in 1990 from Eugene. He was a member of the City Planning Commission and was pastor for the Church of Christ in Brookings.
He was raised and educated in Cottage Grove. He married Diana Wert of Cottage Grove (Class of 1958) on June 5, 1959.
Mr. Lindsey is survived by his wife, Diana Lindsey; his mother; two sons, Mark Lindsey and Brian Lindsey, both of Eugene; a daughter Michele Klemp of Eugene; a brother, Douglas Gipson of Denver; four sisters, Tommy Northington of Malden, Mont., Fay Weeks of Alton, Ill., Joy Greer of Brookings and Diann Wilder of Salem; and five grandchildren.
A Service was held at the Church of Christ in Brookings.

Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Murland G. Johnson, was born here September 25, 1939, graduated from Cottage Grove Union High School in June, 1958, and died March 7, 1961 in an automobile accident in Wolf Creek Douglas County, OR.
Besides the parents, survivors include a brother, Michael at home, and maternal and paternal grandmothers, Mrs. Susie Wood, Cottage Grove, and Mrs. Jennie Johnson, Asotin, WA.
He was employed by his father in the Johnson Logging Co. Funeral services were conducted, with Elder Elmer Unterseher, pastor of the Seventh-day Adventist church, officiating. Interment was made in the IOOF cemetery, and members of the local National Guard unit, of which Johnson was a member, served as pallbearers.

Former Cottage Grove resident Susan Barnhouse of Tualatin died November 22, 1997, of breast cancer. She was 57.
Mrs. Barnhouse was born June 11, 1940, in Eugene to Lloyd and Jeane Griggs. She married Dean Barnhouse on December 20, 1964, in Cottage Grove.
She lived in Portland from 1962 to 1977.
Mrs. Barnhouse graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1958 and from Oregon State University in 1962. She worked as a travel agent for Laurie's Travelport in West Linn.
She enjoyed traveling. She was also a member of Willamette Christian Church in West Linn, the Alpha Delta Pi sorority at Oregon State University and a past president of the Clackamas County Medical Alliance.
Mrs. Barhouse is survived by her husband, Dean Barnhouse of Tualatin; two daughters, Cindy Barnhouse and Amy Barnhouse, both of Portland; a son, Greg Barnhouse of Portland; her parents, Lloyd and Jeane Griggs of Cottage Grove; and a brother, Joe Griggs of Cottage Grove.
Funeral services were November 29, 1997, at Willamette Christian Church in West Linn, with inurnment at Riverview Abbey in Portland.
