Patricia Ann Williams, 81, of Cottage Grove, OR passed away May 20, 2021. Patricia was born on May 14, 1940 in Cotopaxi, CO to parents Edgar & Jocie (Keahey) Basham. Her family moved to Cottage Grove in her youth, and she later graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1958.  On July 2, 1960, Patricia married Donald Williams. Over the years she worked at various businesses around Cottage Grove including the Hot Spot Caf?, the Village Green Gift Shop and Cottage Grove High School food services. Patricia loved camping, gardening and spending time with her family and friends.

Patricia is survived by her sons Steven Williams, Jeffery Williams and wife Charlene of Cottage Grove and sisters Connie Dills of Grants Pass, Cheryl Woods of Corvallis, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Williams in 2009.

A graveside service was held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at Brumbaugh Cemetery. Arrangements were in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel, Cottage Grove, OR.

Suzanne J. Carlile, 80, of Estacada, OR passed away on February 6, 2021 after a long illness.  She was born in Cottage Grove, OR on September 29, 1940 to parents Faye and Virginia (Metcalf) Stewart.  Suzanne graduated high school.  She married Gary Solomon in 1958, they later divorced.  She married Robert Carlile on June 7, 1963.  Suzanne loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was on the Estacada School Board Budget Committee for 4 years and was instrumental in the Busted Loggers organization that helped injured loggers with medical assistance.  Suzanne is survived by her children, Virginia Johnson and husband David, Michael Solomon and wife Jennifer, Rachel Lucas and husband Patrick, Ruth Day, Rhett Carlile and wife Tiffanie; brother Bruce Stewart; sister Mary Gurney; 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way.  She was preceded in death by husband Robert Carlile in 1994.  A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Smith Lund Mills Funeral Chapel, Cottage Grove, OR.

Lynn Harry Nord passed away a year ago from diabetes on July 9, 2019. He was preceded in death by his mother Retha Nord and his father Harry Nord and his sister Marlene Nord. He is survived by his wife Beverly, his brother Dale (Marge) of Alaska. His ashes were released over his favorite lake in Alaska, Sic Sic Lake, where he enjoyed fishing and hiking with his brother. He loved hunting, fishing, target shooting, travel and camping as well as his friends he grew up with in and around Cottage Grove. We will all miss his wry sense of humor; he was a huggable friend and husband. Please donate to the American Diabetes Association if you wish in his honor. (Anyone have a relatively current picture of Lynn?)

Wilma Ellenburg 80, of Cottage Grove passed-away at home on September 3, 2020. She was born in Cottage Grove, Oregon to Manford and Cora Goff (Steele) on April 18, 1940. She graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1958. In 1959, Wilma married Dorel Ellenburg at the Presbyterian Church of Cottage Grove. She worked for more than 50 years at the local Safeway store, retiring in 2013.  She also owned and operated an antique store in Florence, Oregon for more than 30 years. Wilma loved to bowl and went to three national tournaments. She also enjoyed antiquing, gardening, and loved to work.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Doral Ellenburg; son Doral Ellenburg, Jr. of Madres, Oregon; daughter, Loretta Ellenburg of Monroe, Oregon; and her sister Donna Owens of Pahrump, Nevada; grandson Jed Ellenburg; granddaughters Taylor Ellenbrug and Country Smith; great-grandsons Sawyer and Forrest Smith along with many nieces and nephews. She will be forever missed.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 11 A.M. at Fir Grove Cemetery.

With heavy hearts we mourn the loss of a vibrant member of our community, who passed on Good Friday, April 10th, 2020 at the age of 80; a lady who added energy and creativity to everything she touched. Susan Adele Tryk (Sujo) born in Las Angeles to Helen and Harold (Tod) Tryk she had 2 older brothers Dan and Ed. The family moved to Dorena Lake in 1950. Sue, a 1958 graduate of Cottage Grove High, worked for the Law Office of Herb Lombard before attending the U of O to study art in 1961 where she met then married Donald Johnson, in 1962 they had their son Ross.

Following graduation, Don joined the Air Force and was assigned to Williams Air Force base in Chandler, AZ, where they had their daughter Traci in 1964. Their journey then led them to Charleston, SC AF base where Sue spent her time raising kids and pursuing her art. She immersed herself into the local art scene and joined the local art guilds wherever she lived. In Safety Harbor and Key West, FL she loved doing "on scene" demonstrations. She sold paintings and pottery on the sidewalks and docks of the local waterfronts throughout historic parts of town. She also enjoyed teaching, coordinating art exhibits, volunteering for many organizations.

They moved back to Cottage Grove in 1971 and after divorcing, Sue took a job with the city. Eventually meeting Roger Sinclair, a civil engineer, build his own civil engineering firm, later they married. While working full-time, Sue still following her passion and supplemented her salary with art.

Following in her Mother, Helen Tryk?s, footsteps as a well-known local artist. Sue maintained a home-based business on N. 9th St. for graphic design and secretarial service. Her talent in fine art?s included oil, acrylic, tole and watercolor painting, pen & ink, pottery, stained, fused, and dichroic glass work, jewelry, graphic design. Sue loved art and her community.  She volunteered her time to preserve the history and art in Cottage Grove with a later focus on historic building and covered bridges. A tribute to Sue will soon be displayed at The Book Mine downtown.

Sue either founded or was a member of many local organizations such as: CG Chamber of Commerce, CG Historic Society, Side Walk Art shows, Bohemia Mining Days, Town Mural Project, the Carousel Committee just to name a few. Sue?s love for cats, specifically her white cat Cato who is included in local murals about town.

Sue did volunteer work for the Humane Society; and requested that in lieu of flowers, she requested donations go to the Cottage Grove Humane Soc.

Sujo is survived by her daughter Traci Johnson Coolidge, grandson Thomas Johnson, brother Ed Tryk, and dearest friend Ruthie and preceded in death by her parents, brother Dan, and son Ross, who tragically passed away unexpectedly on April 6, 2020.

Her presence in all of our lives was a blessing, to be treasured perpetually.

Charlotte A. (Dial) Vause passed away on February 22, 2020 from kidney failure and sepsis.  She was born in Cottage Grove on May 5, 1940 to James Leslie Dial and Sarah Ellen Miracle. She had a sister and two brothers.  She graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1958.  Charlotte married Jim Vause on May 27, 1961 in Portland and had two sons, Jim and Scott.  Jim and Charlotte divorced October 28, 1970 in Portland.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Annette Elaine (Dial) Henson, and brother Weldon Jay Dean Dial. Her brother, James (Butch) Theodore Dial died June 3, 2020.  No services were held.

Dale Abeene, age 79, of Cottage Grove passed away August 27, 2019 from cancer. Dale was born January 10, 1940 in Cottage Grove to Claris and Herma (Getji) Abeene. Dale graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1958.

Dale was a rock crush operator for Wishdish for 25 years. Dale was a member of the Teamsters Union and an inventor with 2 or 3 patents.

Dale is survived by daughters Dale Standley and Mindy Abeene of Oregon; sons Christopher Abeene of Wisconsin and Rick Abeene of Oregon; sister Donna Abeene Holbrook of Cottage Grove, OR; 6 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchildren.

Dale was preceded in death by his son Corey Abeene and parents Claris and Herma (Gertji) Abeene.

No Service was held. Arrangements were made by Andreason?s Cremation and Burial Service.

Elizabeth Ann Caron (Lisenby) August 11, 1940 - April 25, 2019

Elizabeth Caron, 78, of Ripon, CA passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones. Elizabeth was born in Darlove, Mississippi to James and Draper Lisenby.

She lived in Arizona and then Oregon, where she graduated from Cottage Grove High school in 1958.

She and her family moved to the Valley when she was 18. Elizabeth worked for many years at Draper's Rest Home in Salida, owned by her parents, cooking and caring for patients. Elizabeth had 3 sisters, and her parents didn't treat her any differently despite having Cerebral Palsy. Elizabeth was able to live independently for most of her life because her parents taught her to never give up.

She became paralyzed when she was 59 years old and still refused to give up. She was able to gain some motion back in her hands and arms. She loved to work on jigsaw puzzles, seal them, and give them away to friends and family. Elizabeth had a beautiful and loving soul. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

She will be missed tremendously. Elizabeth was survived by her daughters who cared for her and loved her immensely, Debbie Joslen (David) of Ripon and Pamela Caron (Eric) of Modesto. She is survived by her grandchildren Cynthia Trickey (Kristopher) of Ripon, Christopher Joslen of Ripon, Danny Jenkins of Modesto, and Jordan Hansbury of Modesto. She had 4 great-grandchildren, Logan, Leila, Christopher and Mckenzie. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Carolyn Terrill of Modesto, and Peggy Holt of Modesto. She is preceded in death by her sister Jamie Trott and her parents James and Draper Lisenby.

Services were held on Friday, May 10th, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. Neptune Society 711 5th St. Modesto, CA. A celebration of life immediately followed the service at 5231 Claribel Rd. Modesto, CA.
