Following is some information on Bob and Jerri Lou Wickwire and Larry and Ellen Stanley that Old Schoolmate from CGUHS Class of 54 and others might find interesting.  In particular those of you who are or have been outdoors and/or fisher persons.

First is an introduction from Frank Amato Publications accompanied by a link:

With nothing more than a long-time dream and strong work ethic, Bob Wickwire, and his partners, Larry and Ellen Stanley began a mad journey to pioneer a fishing lodge, somewhere in the wilds of British Columbia. With all five species of Pacific salmon and world-class steelhead fishing, they settled on an untamed, uninhabited part of Canada?Babine Lake where the rule of ?survival of the fittest? rings true. Their first lodge, The Last Resort, was a very rustic camp with virtually no amenities; the Silver Hilton Steelhead Lodge was the opposite, as they turned it into one of the most exclusive steelhead lodges in the world.

The never-ending struggles, dangers, and successes they experienced along the way makes for a fascinating pioneering adventure. Although some of the events may seem totally unbelievable, they are all true. Devastating storms and floods, marauding wildlife, plane crashes, no road access which meant that everything needed to build, maintain and run the lodges had to be brought in by boat, fixed-wing aircraft or helicopter?there were many harrowing experiences. However, at its heart Babine Bob?s Pioneering Fishing Adventures is a wonderful story about life, family, lifelong friendships and the love of wilderness, and of hard work under almost impossible circumstances. Whether you get the opportunity to fish there or not, you will enjoy the adventures of Babine Bob?s 37 years of pioneering fishing lodges in north-central British Columbia.

Second is a biography of Bob and Jerri Lou by Tom Derry - also accompanied by a link:

Biography:

Bob and Jerri Lou Wickwire are true pioneers. In the seventies they pulled up stakes in Portland Oregon and moved the whole family north to British Columbia. Seeking adventure and new opportunities that only the True North could offer.
Bob and Jerri Lou built, owned and operated two of the most famous steelhead lodges in the world, the Silver Hilton and Babine Steelhead Lodge. The Wickwires retired briefly, but at the age of 79 Bob decided to get in one more year of guiding at his beloved Babine Steelhead Lodge and of course Jerri Lou came along to do the cooking and cultivate the grandmother vibes.

Bob and Jerri Lou's return to Babine Steelhead Lodge for the 2015 season was a huge success. A real treat to see him navigate the waters again some forty years after first falling in love with this wonderful wild that is the Babine. He has amazing stories about specific rocks all along the river, truly a one of a kind perspective and history with one of the worlds great Steelhead rivers. The guests loved them and cherished the opportunity to fish with Babine Bob!
