Ace Nevada Mathews, 69, of Creswell, died May 5, 2008 from adrenal cancer. Ace was a longtime resident of Cottage Grove before moving to Creswell in 1994.
He was born November 27, 1938 in Canadian, Texas to Hollis and Virginia (Huckeby) Mathews.
Ace graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1958.
He and Marie Giffen were married January 24, 1959 in Reno, Nevada.
He retired from WinCo Foods in 2001.
Ace enjoyed gaming, playing cards, spending time and being a prankster with family and friends. He also loved to sight-see around Oregon. He was a member of the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Marie, a son, Buddy Mathews and wife, Monica, of Creswell, a daughter, Kacey Perkins and husband, Skip, of Eugene, a sister Charlene Beals of McMinnville,and a brother, James Mathews of Cottage Grove, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, daughter and grand-daughter.
